UK Skilled Worker Visa 2024
This short guide will help you to find out if your job or occupation is eligible for the UK Skilled Worker Visa 2024.
Skilled Worker visas allows international expat workers to come and stay in the UK to do an eligible job with an approved employer. The Skilled Worker Visa has replaced the Tier 2 (General) work visa.
The Skilled Worker route is for European Economic Area (EEA) nationals and non-EEA nationals who are sponsored to do a specific skilled job for a Home Office licensed sponsor.
With the use of this visa, qualified employees from other countries can be chosen based on the list of shortage occupations. They will be entitled to receive an offer letter without having to pass a labor market test and can remain in the UK for up to 5 years.
Check if your job is eligible
Before you can find out if your job is eligible, you need to know its 4-digit occupation code. If you already have a job offer, ask your employer for your occupation code.
Look up for the occupation code for your job.
You can look up your job occupation code in the ONS occupation coding tool if you don't know your code.
Not all job titles are covered. Try looking for jobs with similar titles if you can't locate your specific job title. Try browsing for similar job titles or the occupation code if you can't find your job on the list and use complete terms such as "laboratory " instead of just "lab".
Make sure your duties are described in the job description. Different codes apply to some occupations that are comparable, such as chefs and cooks. Cooks cannot obtain a Skilled Worker visa, but chefs may.
